ABOUT
THE DIRECTOR
Arsen Brzostek
has been surfing since his early teenage years. His love for the
sport grew, meanwhile the surfing lifestyle naturally became an
essential element of his soul. Arsen’s residence on the "wave-scarce"
west coast of Florida fueled his surf-hungry craving. Consequently,
traveling was the only gratifying alternative during the wave famines
normally associated with the Gulf of Mexico. Arsen traveled extensively
throughout Costa Rica, California and Florida scoring some incredible
surf sessions along the way. He dreamed of combining his life of
surfing together with his passion for story telling.
Born in Poland
in 1973, Arsen escaped communist rule with his parents when he was
a young child. Moving through Austria in search of a political asylum
camp, they sought refuge under the country’s amnesty. The
United States awarded him and his family political asylum and they
moved to New York City in 1977. After two trying years his parents
moved the family to Florida's Tampa Bay area where he resides today.
His formal studies
on Commercial Art brought him to establish Green Dot Design, a creative
firm, to provide an outlet for his talents allowing businesses to
benefit from his style of designing classic advertising and marketing
tools. His love for graphic design has led Arsen to produce some
remarkable projects for such world class clients as Motorola, Disney,
Esso Oil, Burger King, just to name a few. Traveling the road of
graphic art has lead him to his most impassioned pursuit yet.
Arsen has studied
art in its many forms all through his life. Recent creative journeys
have taken him deep into the remote jungles of Costa Rica's Southern
Zone to document a group of friends and family traveling and surfing
together while experiencing an extraordinary adventure. This is
featured in Arsen's debut film Jungle Juice.
Arsen has spent
most of his life searching for a creative outlet which would allow
all of his talents to be utilized. His passion for the art of story
telling has driven him to produce this fine example of cinematic
art – Jungle Juice. Arsen’s continual research into
surfing’s history and his experience with surf cultures from
around the world combined with his love for adventure helped him
identify the universal elements unique to both surfers and travelers
in search of substance and soul.
He is currently
working on the post production of his follow up film titled "Going
With The Flow: Classic California Soul Surfing" introducing
the surfing talents of Jesse Timm and featuring Kevin Connelly along
with interviews with Linda Benson, Lance Carson, LJ Richards, Henry
Ford, Hank Warner, Cory Weber, as well as special appearances by
Rosa & Anneke Berre, Chad Dawson and Mike Trzinski as the Surf
Traveler Uncle Mike. Principle photography on this film was wrapped
on January 22nd, 2005. Projected release date for "Going With
The Flow: Classic California Soul Surfing" is set for October
2005 with a premiere at the La Paloma Theater in San Diego.
Arsen has three
future surf film projects planned all featuring the combined style
and grace of Jesse Timm and Kevin Connelly.
